Where to buy a second-hand iPhone in Malaysia: trusted options compared
Last updated 2026-11-07 · 7 min read
Short answer
Buy from a seller that lets you check the phone first, gives a written warranty and offers refunds in cash, not just store credit. In Malaysia, warranties range from none on private sales to 12 months at 3cat and Swapper; RunMobile gives up to 6 months free plus 7-day money back.
Warranty and returns compared

| Seller | Warranty | Change-of-mind refund | Refund paid as |
|---|---|---|---|
| Private sellers (Carousell, Mudah) | None | No | Whatever you agree |
| CompAsia | 1 month by default; 12 months on phones marked with it | No | Store credit only |
| Carousell Certified | 3 months free | No (exchange only) | Exchange |
| 3cat | 12 months | Yes, 15 days | Cash or original payment |
| Swapper | 12 months | Yes, 14 days | Original payment or store credit |
| RunMobile | 6 months (Like new, Good), 3 (Fair), 1 (Damaged) | Yes, 7 days | Cash |
Private sellers: cheapest, riskiest
A phone from Carousell or Mudah can be the cheapest, but you get no warranty and little comeback if something goes wrong. The biggest risks are account-locked phones, stolen phones and hidden repairs.
If you buy privately, meet in person, run our 15-point checklist, and never pay a deposit before seeing the phone.
Shops and online sellers
Established sellers inspect phones, give a warranty and usually let you pay in instalments. Read the small print: some refund only in store credit, and battery promises vary.
Note that under the Consumer Protection Act 1999, second-hand phones sold by a business must still be of acceptable quality, whatever the seller's terms say.
What to look for in any seller
- You can test the phone yourself before paying.
- The battery health is stated as a number, not "good".
- A written warranty tied to the IMEI.
- A change-of-mind return period with a real refund.
- A receipt showing the IMEI and price.
