Where to sell your iPhone in Malaysia: CompAsia, Carousell, Mudah or trade-in?
Last updated 2026-11-07 · 7 min read
Short answer
Selling privately on Carousell or Mudah can pay the most but takes time and carries risk. Trade-in companies are faster and safer, Apple Trade In pays in Apple credit only, and a buyer who inspects in front of you and pays cash on the spot is the simplest middle ground.
Your options at a glance
Here's how the main options compare, based on each company's own published terms in November 2026.
| Option | How you're paid | Effort | Main catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carousell or Mudah (private sale) | Whatever you agree with the buyer | High: photos, chats, meet-ups | No-shows, lowballers and payment scams |
| CompAsia trade-in | Payment within about 2 working days after inspection | Low | Final price is decided after inspection and is final |
| 3cat or Swapper | Paid after checks | Low to medium (store or pickup) | Price confirmed only after checks |
| Apple Trade In | Credit towards a new Apple purchase | Low | No cash; only useful if you're buying from Apple |
| RunMobile (Klang Valley) | Cash on the spot, before the agent leaves | Low: our agent comes to you | Klang Valley only; we can't buy locked or unpaid phones |
Selling privately on Carousell or Mudah
A private sale can get you the highest price, because you cut out the middleman. The trade-off is time: expect many messages, offers far below your price, and buyers who don't turn up.
Meet in a busy public place, get paid before you hand over the phone, and never share TAC codes or banking logins with a buyer.
Trade-in companies
Companies like CompAsia, 3cat and Swapper give you an online quote, then inspect the phone and confirm a final price. This is faster and safer than a private sale, but the price is usually lower, and the final offer can drop at inspection.
Before you agree, read how they handle a lower offer. The fair ones show you exactly what they found and let you take your phone back free.
Apple Trade In
Apple has run its Trade In programme in Malaysia since 2024, online and at the Apple Store at The Exchange TRX. It's convenient if you're buying a new Apple device, but you get credit, not cash.
Selling to RunMobile
Answer a short quiz on our website and you get an "up to" price in about a minute. Our agent meets you anywhere in Klang Valley, checks the phone in front of you, wipes your data and pays you in cash on the spot. If the condition differs from your answers, we show you why, and you can say no and keep your phone.
As an example, we currently pay up to RM 660 for an iPhone 13 128GB in good condition.
